POULTRY

Poultry protocol

Today, Zootests offers a wide range of experimental setups covering most poultry productions (breeders, pullets, layers, broilers, ducks, turkeys).

The Zootests trial facilities are comprehensive and innovative: they provide the same statistical power as station-based experiments, while maintaining the temperature, humidity, ammonia level, lighting, and health conditions typical of standard production buildings.

All protocols presented are indicative and can be adapted to clients’ specific needs.

SWINE

Fattening pig protocol
  • 40 experimental pens
  • Individual feed intake measurement (IVOG feeding stations)
  • Continuous weighing

Zootests runs trials on fattening pigs to evaluate the effect of various factors (dietary composition, additives, management practices, etc.) on zootechnical performance, carcass traits, meat quality, health status, and nutrient excretion.

Trials are carried out in dynamic groups with automated feeding stations and electronic sorting scales, mirroring the technology used in modern commercial farms.

All protocols presented are indicative and can be adapted to clients’ specific needs.

SMALL RUMINANTS

Protocol Goats and Dairy Ewes
2 or 3 groups compared
  • 2 to 3 treatments tested
  • 30 to 60 dairy goats or ewes per treatment
  • Possibility of trials on organic farms
  • Collected data: milk (amount and quality), body score, weight, forages intake, other parameters to be discussed.

Protocol replacement ewes:
  • 2 groups
  • 30 to 40 replacement ewes per treatment
  • Collected data: weight and weight gain at different ages, other parameters to be discussed.

LABORATORY

Quality measurements

Zootests performs quality control analyses on eggs, meat, bones, and litter dry matter in its laboratory.
